Re: Best military quote.
To be fair I do not think highly of religion, but I do perceive that mentality as homophobic.
Also to be fair: homosexuality does not directly interfere with my life; religion does day to day.
Religion has a history of oppressing as well being oppressed (usually by other religions) whereas homosexuality is being oppressed and does nothing to anyone outside those that are homosexual. I will react directly to things that challenge what I know or impede progress; religion does it constantly, homosexuality does not ... except that they seem to get all the chicks (did I just make a gay joke?).
Perhaps I am theophobic (or deiphobic maybe)? I fear that religion divides mankind far too often; and generally over pettiness (such as sexual orientation or political affiliation).SmokenScion, DJ Ms. White liked this post

Re: Best military quote.
Wow, ya'll are taking a joke WAY too seriously. It's meant as a funny/humorous observation, hence the term "joke"....but ya'll are acting like he just finished curb-stomping some gay guys and gave that quote to the media while drinking the blood of gay babies....
I'm not going to bother addressing most of your post, because arguing different points of view throughout history is a pointless and time-wasting exercise, and quite honestly I have better things to do with my time than that, but what I will address is the Carlos Mencia part. He's a comedian, known for jokes about race (even about his own race), for being as non-PC as possible, and guess what, he's still funny. I listen to a VERY broad range of comedians, from John Pinnette (whose routines mostly involve food) to Anjelah Johnson (who is pretty clean, but still comments on race), to Carlos Mencia and Dave Chappelle, who are both do entire routines about race. Know what they have in common? They're funny....that's how they continue to make money in their chosen profession.
And there are worse examples to follow than Mencia's, because he's open and honest about stereotypes, and acknowledges the fact that stereotypes can be extremely amusing (who hasn't laughed at a joke about asian driving?), while also commenting on the fact that stereotypes shouldn't pre-dispose us one way or another towards a person, and that we should get to know them before forming a true opinion. Doesn't mean we can't laugh about stereotypes, doesn't mean we have to be all nice and polite to each other at every turn.
In essence, I'll reference my previous post here and say grow up, pull the stick from your ass, and relax some. Even irreverant jokes can be funny if you allow them to be, it's all about your point of view.deathgodusmc liked this post

Re: Best military quote.
Well first he said he was going to leave before it became mandatory. Not because gays are allowed. Attention to detail would help on that. I guess that pretty much kills the rest of your arguement on that.
Second Carlos was more to the point of people getting butt hurt over someone else not sharing their pc views.
Third i dont know. I havent used the word faggot in my vocabular since like high school. As for gay yes plenty of people still use that one.
