    A&M and the SEC

Well as of today, the SEC has decided not to extend an invite to Texas A&M. Granted, the remarks made by the SEC hint that they will still look to expand in the near future, and that A&M to the SEC is not a dead issue. From what I'm hearing, it has a lot to do with contractual issues, legal issues and not wanting to make a decision in a matter of one week.

On that note, it was nothing short of hilarious to hear Mack Brown talk about how he thinks teams should stay together within the conference and not break up the decades of history between certain teams......Mack.....your university is the entire reason teams would ever leave the big 12. The University of Texas is not what it used to be in terms of football, but insist on acting like it is.

They will be the next Notre Dame.....a team that prides itself on it's history, but refuses to recognize the mediocrity of their program in the here and now.

You realize that until last season Texas had something like 10 straight 10 win seasons?

I'm kinda disappointed that they get invited. They would get beat really bad for a couple years but a strong foundation would form.

I'm saying that I believe they will wind up as a Notre Dame in the near future. Most especially if Texas teams like A&M move to a premier conference such as the SEC. Not only that, but unless teams like Oklahoma and Oklahoma state stay, the Big 12 is done as a major conference with any draw.

Notre Dame is down because in the modern age of bling-bling college football football it is hard consistently attract a depth of top level players to a Catholic school in South Bend Indiana The allure of Notre Dame is from an age past. Notre Dame is like the history channel to a lot of young players imo.

UT whether they are big12, indy, or pac16 is still UT. A prime football school with modern-day success in a great city, in a great football breeding ground state.

I really don't see any parallels or relations between UT and ND that show UT will be like ND. If I had to pick the next Notre Dame of college football I'd pick USC. They already had a Notre Dame type dormant period throughout the 90's before Pete Carroll miraculously brought them back, and now with him gone they may sink back into it thanks to the infractions and Lane Kiffin hire.

This does not look like a mediocre program to me:

And I'm a pac12 guy that has no interest in big12/texas football, just impartial observer.

It's also heavily been hinted that if the SEC is going to expand they want ALL their ducks in a row and not add teams one at a time. I've heard Clemson, North Carolina, Florida State and Missouri all as potential candidates. The perfect storm to add 2 teams would be A&M and Missouri as it adds 3 top 10 television markets (Dallas, Houston & St Louis) and gives them leverage to renegotiate an already lucrative deal with CBS. As it sits right now, they only have 1 top 10 television market (Atlanta) and adding 2 or 3 more would allow them to maximize their deal with CBS.

Mack also needs to realize that his school completely fucked over the Big12 as well. Had they not made their very own Longhorn Network, the Big12 could have made their own network and added a few schools to replace Colorado and Nebraska leaving for greener pastures.

As far as SEC expansion goes I wouldn't be surprised if they do expand to take on FSU, Clemson, TAM, and Mizzou. Mostly because it seems that the trend is going to lean towards 4 super conferences right now, Pac10, Big10, SEC and Big East. The rest of the conferences are going to be subjected to heavy leavings of schools from those conferences and then the eventual folding of said conference. Look for the Big12 to be the first conference to experience this.

There's much more to it than just the Longhorn Network. When there was talk of Texas, A&M, OU, etc going to the PAC-12 last year... Texas was the one negotiating with the PAC-12. They made certain 'guarantees' that they would bring A&M and others with them to the PAC-12. It's the entire arrogance of the Texas Football program that is single-handedly destroying the Big-12. It doesn't help that the Big-12 commissioner is a pussy and couldn't stand up to Texas even if he tried.

It's all about the money. Mizzou and A&M make sense. A Virginia team wouldn't be bad either, as you get the DC market. FSU doesn't really add much, in fact the Gators would argue it hurts them haha.

Would be some shit if Oklahoma wound up in the SEC with FSU Mizzou, Clemson, etc...talk about a bad ass conference.
