    Re: The TV/Movie Topic

I suppose new ip wasn't the right term. You're right, nearly all of their stories came from different folk lore. The sentiment I was going for was new projects I suppose, they should go after stories they haven't done rather than retelling ones they already have.

    Re: The TV Topic

With all of the Daredevil discussion and "that fight scene" being harkened back to the "OldBoy" (2003) Korean Film, I decided to watch OldBoy on Netflix tonight...

My thoughts on the film can be summarized with the following gifs, in chronological order:

    ***Don't worry, no spoilers***

    Early on, I was like:

    and then I was like:

    and then...

    and then I was like...

    literally!

Then the big reveal, leaving me like:

In summary...WTF! I went in expecting to see a gnarly revenge flick with some Daredevil-esque fight scenes and ended up with one of those mind bender (se7en, Fight Club, etc.) films. It will definitely make you think, and it's apparently it's the most popular part of a 3 film trilogy of thematically interwoven films. I don't plan on ever watching them (but I probably will anyways because I'm a dork).

/end film discussion in the TV thread

In other news, apparently The Flash is awesome? I've not seen S.H.I.E.L.D. since season 1, haven't watched Arrow, nor have I seen Gotham or Agent Carter. They've all gotten decent reviews from what I've observed but the Flash is dominating RottenTomatos/Metacritic scores. Probably one of the highest rated shows on Television. I saw a Flash related thread around here somewhere but I avoided it due to spoilers. I'll probably start watching that one this weekend, I've been on a superhero binge lately since Avengers came out and I'm dying for a good superhero series. Alphas was amazing and I need something to fill the hole it left in my heart after cancellation.

The Flash is the best representation of a superhero comic ever. Period. It has a few continuity errors occasionally but they are dealing with things that almost guarantee it.

On a similar note... Supergirl is going to kick ass as well.

The flash is fantastic! I am not a big fan of the flash, but the show is amazing..utterly amazing.. The season finale was definitely the big plot twist ending I was NOT expecting.

I also love the fact its not a 10-12 episode season, but 23!

Flash was definitely better than Arrow this season.
I was really satisfied with how they concluded the 'mommy issues' arc.
Listening to their science is funny.
However, Inconsistencies in how time mechanics work was very irritating. After discussing with some people, I've just decided that time (or at least the speed force that manipulates time) is sentient and it really likes the Flash, so it behaves whichever way it wants to.

Arrow was quite disappointing. The amount of dumb decisions being made over and over was painful.

I am very much looking forward to 'Legends of Tomorrow'. I wanna see more A.T.O.M.! Towards the end of the Arrow season, I was basically only watching to see more of Ray Palmer.
(Watching the trailer basically made all of Arrow Season 3 pointless. *sigh*)

Actually that's not entirely off the mark.

Not really. The trailer LOOKS like she took a skinny dip in a lazarus pit. Which would mean that IF it were the plan all along, they needed a way to get Ra's out of the way. Given that Rip Hunter is the leader of the Legends of Tomorrow team, they could have picked her out of the timeline anywhere they wanted though.... So... COMICS!!!!

I'm not saying I've seen the first episode of supergirl but if I had, I liked it quite a goddamn bit.

    Re: The TV Topic

I just watched the first episode of Netflix's 'Sens8'.I

I don't really know where the plot is headed, but it was interesting enough for me to continue for a bit. For me, the show could go either way after one episode, good or bad,

It felt like they were trying REALLY hard for diversity, although I kinda liked that because stuff is happening all over the world.
