When the witch is burning, she doesn't chase directly after you. She puts her hands over her head and runs in a serpentine (squiggly squid) pattern. In a vs match, burning her is pretty much the only safe route to go, unless the opposing team is foolish enough to attack you while you're in a position to run up and crown her after they die.
edit:: wow didn't realize this topic was so old. I'm sure you've figured out the witch's squiggly squid fire running on your own by now.

Hope they get rid of the Witch headshot in L4D2. She's so easy to kill now that when you see her, she's about as scary as a common infected.
If Valve wants to bring back a real sense of dread with the Witch, in my opinion there should be no instakill tricks to dispatch her; she should have much higher HP (like 75% of Tank's) and she should instantly go after other teammates after killing the first.
That would put the fear in you to actually want to SNEAK past her instead of having some showboat run up and obliterate her in 1 second. Hearing the Witch's sobs might actually freak you out again, like they did the first time you heard them.

that might be a bit too difficult. dont get me wrong, but im all for making the game harder and everything but at one point it might get rather rediculous.
if they change the witch to make it harder, if anything they should change the point where she becomes vulnerable (i.e. instead of when shes crouched and about to attack, make it like, as she raises her arm or something.)

I mean, it is thrilling to cr0wn a witch once in a while by complete accident, or in an uber stressed situation.
I absolutely HATE the people who go out of the way (and the teams way) to *try* to crown the witch, or kill it even.
Ive been on manymany teams where one person screws the whole team over royally because he/she tried to kill the witch and died, and everyone else following.

It would be very difficult, but that would be the point: avoid startling the Witch at all costs - and if you mess up, you and your team pay the price. It would add much more tension to the game, and would force you to confront enemies in ways other than just blasting everything you lay your eyes on. To implement my idea the Witch could no longer be completely blocking your path (like in front of a saferoom door). She would need to be in spots that would give you JUST enough space to get by her... if you know how to be careful enough. I'm sure this change would make the Blasting Rambos ™ very sad, but I like it.

I agree that the Witch should attack other survivors once she's done with the first. But her secondary blows shouldn't be fatal. They should incapacitate instantly or take a huge chunk of health.
Once she's done with one survivor, the others will either attack or scatter knowing they'll be next if they don't get out of the way. Or... just another random idea... once she's killed one person, she runs off screaming alerting a horde as large as one that would come if all survivors were boomed on.- fight with me, not beside me -

The problem with this is there is no set number of infected per amount of people boomed on. Sometimes I boom all 4 and see at most 12-15 zombies come running. Sometimes when only one or two are boomed, it seems like an endless swarm. This isn't to say that they won't make the hordes more consistent in the future. I actually kind of hope they do.
Also worth noting, if the witch gets tank health and starts attacking everyone, with no OHKO method available, vs mode will be nearly impossible when a level has a witch. I'd prefer to up the difficulty by removing medkits except for in saferooms, and replacing them with pills.
