EMT-B gear
Anyone know a good place to find some boots (preferably steel toe and blood borne pathogen resistant) for around 50$ish? Also I need a stethoscope for my class too. Willing to spend around 50-60 on that, but I have no idea what is considered a quality brand in the EMT world.

Sadly no, we have to buy the student EMT shirt from the bookstore, and they recommend we buy the pants from the bookstore.
We have to spend stupid money on this stuff.
120$ for a background check/drug screen, about 200$ish for the clothes and a stethoscope, 30$ for a CPR certification, and 5 for a student EMT ID.

Re: EMT-B gear
5.11 makes the best stuff I've used, hands down. Go with them for boots (also, places like Gander Mountain have decent stuff) and EMS trauma pants. Shirt depends on your program. For your class, just get a crappy stethoscope and sphygmomanometer because they'll get trashed anyway if you use them at all, or you'll have access to better equipment when you need it. Get a couple trauma shears, mine were around $3.50 each and will cut through jeans or boots like paper. I would also pick up a couple pen lights, water resistant notebooks, and a bunch of crappy pens, because you'll need them.
