BF2 or BF2142?

Personally, I like both so much that I can't pin point which one I like better. That being said, I'll have to say both. Each of them offer something the other doesn't, so there's always something new to be learned.

I love how half of the guys who voted haven't even palyed BF2142 and they are only going off what they have played. BF2142 is more team oriented and that's what we strive for here at TTP. BF2142 was built for teamplay and is teamplay with the squad leader options and unlocks. BF2142 is faster and requires more advanced skills. People say BF2 does only because of the planes and choppers.

How can you say that when you claim you never played it before.

Maybe instead of all these put downs towards 2142 you can just say, "No thnx". People do play the game and love it. I could make a whole lotta fun out of BF2 if you like. :P

Thats why I basically just said its not for me. Im not saying dont buy it, try it out for yourself. if you cant get your hands on a taste of the game from a friend, watch some videos on a gaming website or YouTube to just take a look at the game. You should always do research before buying a game. Actually that should go for any electronic item too. I usually will look at user's views and opinions of people that have used the product. You still need to cut through the biased BS though...

Watching videos of the game does not give you the feel for it, it just gives you a picture to judge off of.

In my opinion, you can really compare the two. To say that they are from the same company, and therefore are similar is about as far as one can get. Sure one is based on the same elements as it's predecessor, but that was only to save time in the assembly phase of development.

2142 is different. The more I learn about it, the more I realize they really aren't trying to recreate BF2... they could just have easily done that with more expansions. Instead, they are taking a few elements that were successful and building a completely different set of game dynamics around them.

I think that each plays to different strengths and game preferences, which is why some people dislike one over the other. The issue is really about which game plays to your strengths. Some people like air more than ground, and vice versa. But I think that both require teamplay in different ways, which is why "this has more teamplay" arguments are really quit moot.

I suppose you could say this one has more because of element A, but in reality, since they are different, you can't because they can't be compared in that way.

I love BF2, but I like to finish a game (become a general), before moving on to the next (BF2142). Unless another game comes out, I plan on playing 2142 to the level that I will soon be on BF2. They are great games, but comparing them seems to me to be silly at best. One is not better than the other. BF2 simply has had more time to get it's player base larger.
