But the key word that you forgot was key

if youre talking about the number sign key you are clearly referring to a button with the number sign on it and not the actual number sign itself.

Actually I have heard some automated systems call it the pound sign/symbol and some call it the number sign/symbol. Depends who you talk to. In the development field, a lot call it a hash symbol.

So youre good with pound, number, or hash.

Pound, up until Twitter, Now its Hash.......mmmm.. eggs n hash....

I call it the start of a tic-tac-toe game myself.

Well if you live in north america it is called the pound sign or number sign. Haven't you ever used a telephone?

I always call it the hash key...... you know you doing advanced math when you start seeing it show up......
