im curious how if you were just sitting in your house one day and decided to call the police dept and ask "listen i wanna fire off some experimental weapons, do you have any suggestions?"

A lot of things happened concurrently so i am not really sure myself, it kind of went like this: I needed a place to fire the device, so i called around. I was pointed to a modest local demolition and firing range, i called up for permission and was asked to provide signed documents from LPD, raising the point that in some states i'd need a permit permission of the Sheriff from the LPD to own such a weapon. I called up my LPD and was told the only demo range we have is too small (needs to be very long, and wide) for my purposes and was pointed to several of the largest ranges closest to me, the best turned out to be in VA.

At this point, I assumed i'd already been flagged for owning such a weapon. While had, some how, the lpd found out prior to me calling in i surely could have claimed ignorance, even though ignorance of the law is not an excuse, the law is QUITE fuzzy on developing technology that can be used as a weapon, especially those that have alternative uses (e.g. lasers). But now its documented that i am aware of the law for my case, not to mention that i would be uncomfortable firing the weapon by myself, as there is a substantial risk of the projectile turning into a shrapnel bomb.

Though I wouldn't mind some unbiased witnesses and build some bridges, especially if i decide to build a full scale model.

You can come to my house and shoot it off.

I fire off "experimental" weapons all the time here. I am as good with a weapon IRL as I am in game. Me and my mini-arsenal.
