    New Video Card and PSU

So its that time o'year again and I am going to upgrade my video card and PSU. The PSU because I have had the same one for three years and its time. The Video card because of this:

    http://developer.amd.com/sdks/amdapp..._Developer.pdf

It would appear that AMD wants me to use OpenCL from now on so, fuck them, I am going (back) to CUDA. So the question is, for games at 1280x1024, gtx 580 or 560 ti SLI?

SLI usually is more effective at higher resolutions and not lower resolutions. Maybe a 570 with 1.5 GB or more memory instead? I'm not sure you'll get the money out of the 560SLI or 580 at that resolution. If you're going 1920+ later, maybe the 580?

I have a 570 and can play BF3 on high/ultra at 1680 with framerates that don't dip below 55 and are usually around 75-85 and go over 100 on certain maps.

I am going with the 580, the reason is Folding + Research.

The 580 is overkill for the 1280x1024 res. The GTX 560ti is still great at folding.

I need the 580 for research, since I need to write programs that optimally preach resources to all 512 cuda cores, then when I put them on 590's in the production environment hopefully it will scale across the GPUs. I just cannot believe how monumentally AMD screwed me by discontinuing CAL, I mean it would be okay if the AMD implementation of OpenCL in the APP SDK didn't suck massive donkey balls.
