Coating lets smartphones survive under water
"Water will just run through the machine," Liquipel president Danny McPhail told AFP as he casually tossed an iPhone into a tub of water and watched it sink. "It actually beads right on top of the circuit board and rolls off."
He plucked the unscathed iPhone from the tub and shook the water from the gadget, which continued to work.

The amount of times I could have used that....
at least once. probably twice. Now I own a brick though so it's not exactly worth it for me. Part of the reason I don't buy smart phones is because I have broken too many.

My Motorola Defy is water proof, shock proof, and almost scratch proof. They can be built tough while not looking like a tank. More companies just need to do it. I have never had a phone last more than a year. My Defy has survived all manner of ill fortune and is going on 14 months now. Best phone I have ever owned. Dropped it in a puddle, got mad and threw it at my dashboard (dashboard broken, Defy is typing this post) stepped on it, ect. It has had a rough life and yet it still looks great and works flawlessly.
Sent from my Defy using TapatalkSleep, eat, conquer, meditate, repeat.

Pshh Iv had 4 phones over a period of 8 years, and two of them were I-Phone Clones (realllllly cheap knockoffs) they lasted about a year apc before they had catistrophic battery failure. My other phones are nice cheap ones without those stupid overpriced data plans, the battery lasts for days and they dont break
