Whats you opinion about 3D monitors?

Just wondering whats everyones opinion about 3d monitors... I'm highly considering making my rig a 3D machine...

3D anything except the Imax Polarized lens System, makes my eyes hurt.....

I hate 3d.... I would rather have a 600Hz plasma or a 120 or 240Hz lcd..... and just run really high frame rates

Haven't seen any good reviews on them for gaming yet. Apparently there are two different ways to do it. Both with substantial cons.

3D is just a fad, even salepeople who sell the TV's will tell you that.

3D is only good with digital entertainment. For games it works really well as long as they take the idea that 3d is meant for depth. For instance, I recently got a 3DS, and it uses 3D more towards the inside of the screen for depth instead of out of the screen for effect. That works well, and looks nice, it gives it a good 3D feel(more like looking out of a window than at a tv screen). So as long as 3D is used in that fashion, its fine, but for movies or real life images it looks like shit(unless the movie is heavily CGI...like Avatar).

Most people don't get that, and use 3D to "reach out" to you, and therefore giving the gimmicky "wtf is this shit" look.

Actually the new models hit stores around march, thats when the old ones get clearanced out.
Panasonic LCDs? yeah they only make small ones, the Plasmas Panasonic makes are so good you can forget they even make LCDs.
Refurb... no thanks, I have seen them go in for service and get fixed only to break again.
TV stations may not broadcast 1080p but bluray and games are, thats where I care about how good my TV looks. And who makes 1080i anymore anyways...

3D is somewhat of a fad, but there is plenty of content being created. It takes time to upgrade all the film studio cameras over to 3D. And TV is just as bad. Why do stations wanna buy new cameras if they dont have to.

I have a 3d gaming setup...novelty wears off very quickly. Don't waste your money.

i got the chance to play borderlands on a 3d monitor 2 quakecons ago. the game itself was pretty much flat on the screen except for explosions and the like but the thing i liked most about it was the VR feel i got from the HUD in the game. i liked that a lot because it increased my awareness of my status and we all know in some games that would be a welcome change. however the cost is still just to high to warrant the purchase to me and the glasses are while not a deal breaker for me were a bit difficult to wear because i have specs already for my eyes. also it seems as though AMD has not support for 3d content so i would have have to buy nvidia but i maybe wrong.
