Soys new build.
Well I was just going to order another 560 ti and run SLI on my trusty old M2N32SLI Deluxe. But with all the tax money I got back I decided to go a about the upgrade a little differently.
I got the ASUS Maximus IV GENE-Z micro ATX mainboard, a 2500K and 16 gigs of RAM as well as another 560 ti.
Newegg.com - Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I52500K
Newegg.com - ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-1560-KR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Yes I know there are better 560's. I was an early adopter so I am getting one that is identical to the one I bought originally.
Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL (2 sets for 16Gb)
Using the GPU, PSU and SSD from my current rig (all less than a year old):

Newegg.com - Corsair Force Series 3 CSSD-F180GB3-BK 2.5" 180GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (2 in RAID0)
And a micro ATX box with a handle:

Cooling:
Newegg.com - ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink

Newegg.com - Scythe SY1225SL12M 120mm "Slipstream" Case Fan
I will have a very portable killer gaming rig but until I get a 590 or something I will be using it's onboard audio. It claims to be an X-FI but I think that is a software layer over a Cmedia controller... oh well... SLI or audio, I choose graphics.
Now I have an M2N32 SLI mobo with 4 gigs and an athlonII X4 laying around. I am going to make a passively cooled media rig out of it. Turns out the GTS 450 (192 cores) can be passively cooled with the Acelero from AC. SO I plan to get two of those to run in SLI and a fanless PSU from Kingwin. I still can't find a fanless cooler for my athlon X4 that would tolerate full load... anyone got any suggestions? I want to be able to game on this (the number of cores for SLI 450's is equal to a 560 ti, so in theory it should run Skyrim and BF3 on high)
Can't wait to build my new gamer...Last edited by SapiensErus; 02-05-12 at 11:55 AM.

Re: Soys new build.
Right out of the box, the Core i series is very different. I am immediately impressed by the retention system and the chip's interface to the socket. This rig is gonna straight kick ass.
So many new parts! I would be on BF3 again tonight, but the new beast must rise. With luck, I will be around in the morning.Last edited by SapiensErus; 02-10-12 at 08:59 PM. Reason: lol if you saw it.

Re: Soys new build.
All put together without a hitch so far; booted immediately and installed windows. Every driver and utility is up to date... Installing games. I have never had a build go this smoothly.
Although I picked a really buff exhaust fan, and I figured I could just slow it down with the mobo... it can't seem to go slower than 2k and it's 90mm so it makes a racket... But on high it moves like 70 CFM.
