I would also look at 560ti's in the 448 shader version; best bang for the buck if you are getting a 5 series...

That z-68 and i5 2500K will rock; I am running a 2500K on a z-68 Asus mobo and clocking it to 4.8 Ghz on air.

1600 is good speed for RAM, 8GB is definitely a suitable amount, but if you can find a 1600 kit in a CAS 7 it will be optimally fast (those numbers you see like 9-9-9-25 look for one starting with 7-x-x- etc.). But Corsair is a solid memory brand.

Look for a monitor that is 2ms response time to avoid any ghosting, tracers, etc.

Lastly consider getting a 120-180 GB SSD as your system drive. I am running a 180 on my gaming rig and it is more than enough space for my OS and games plus crap. I just store things on a secondary HDD if I have excess files (but I usually just put anything like that on my external).

If he is rockin' a sandy bridge 2500K he will probably not upgrade in the lifetime of those CPU's... my i5 is amazing and OC's so easily (Ivy Bridge does not ... but might later).

The cost for a Ti is much higher from what I am seeing. Looking at the ram now. Will check the SSD.

Wow, yeah... the 570 is only marginally moment... did not realize the 560 ti (either version) had held it's value so tightly ... and that the 570 did not.

Think I may stick with the HDD for now. I may expand to an SSD later. The cost just doesn't work for me right now.

This is a dumb question, but does a heatsink come with the processor still?

True that; you will run awesome either way with the parts listed so far. I gotta say the SSD was the single most noticeable improvement in performance I had seen in years, particularly outside of gaming... the whole system is much noticeably faster.

But again, an HDD will do the same job.

Yes, that one does. Any that come in the retail box do. those listed as OEM do not.

Awesome. Yeah. I'll probably pick up an SSD after christmas time sometime and then swap everything over.

Re: Building a PC in the near future

Does anybody see anywhere I could SAVE some money with the same real world performance OR VERY similar performance? I want something that can handle any game today and in the near future.
