So another question. On the desktop I know the main bottleneck in terms of BF3 is the GPU. If I upgrade the 8800GT to something more beefy will the other components keep up, or do I need a new CPU too? If I go new CPU I am probably going to have to do a full build.

Re: Laptop
I run settings at high and really get those FPS. The 680m is as powerful as a desktop 670.
Read this: HTWingNut's Sager NP9150 (Clevo P150EM) Review with LOTS of 680m benchmarks!
Oh and I don't use an external monitor.

Re: Laptop
Damn those benchmarks are pretty good.
I was close to buying a Sager a while back, but I was looking at a lower card. How is the screen? Did you go matte or glossy?
Civil, it all depends on whether you are trying to get high settings. My daughter is used to console games so she could play BF3 on low and wouldn't know. She played BF2 with low settings on my old computer and was happy.

Re: Laptop
I went matte. My desktop was a Samsung PX2370 and this is better by a long shot. It's the 95% color gamut screen. It costs $95 extra but it was worth it.
Seriously, it may sound like I'm just yakking but this laptop is simply amazing. I had the Dell M1730 with 9800GTX SLI and it was cool but this is without words. I can run Adobe Premiere pro the same as my desktop system and all my games (Skyrim, BF3) run like butter. There is absolutely no compromise with this thing.
I ebayed my desktop and my M1730 and pretty much covered the cost of this which was $2200.
Oh and it's portable. Unbelievable!

Re: Laptop
How do I put this, no.
CPU is slow and only has a 1 mb L2 cache. Your gonna need to out about 150 to 200 into boosting that. Your ram... Yea it was good ram, years ago. If you gaming, you want DDR3. 30 to 40 will fix that no prob.
There another thing we don't want to over look here, what powersupply are you using? How many watts and connections, how many 12 volt rails and what not.Dispatch the DooM
