getting hard to even find one that isn't modular any more if you are looking at decent 80% efficient gold certified.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

I have no clue what you mean by modular. What is the difference between gold and platinum? What is the standard % for efficiency?

    Re: Massive CPU Upgrade

Modular is a term for the cables. A modular PSU only uses the cables you need. A non-modular has every possible cord connected even if you don't need them.

I was also reading something about having a dedicated loop for your video cards... Does that mean you use the same bundle of cords for all your GPUs and nothing else?

The way the cords are, that's how you do it anyway. If you need help, I think that ewok and quick lightening are both in Cali.

Typically when they are talking a second 'loop' for GPUs they're talking about liquid cooling.

Make sure any PSU you get is single rail and not dual or quad rail. That way the wattage and amperage is actually available to any one component.

Also the 3770K is on sale at microcenters (in store only) for 229$ still. I bought mine a week before thanksgiving for that price and it was a steal.

Unfortunately it's store only and about a 4 hours drive just one-way to the closest one.
