Need New Headphones

So my current headphones are going. They have a short in them so I lose the right side and have to bend/twist to get it back. They are the Turtle Beach Ear Force HPA2's. They are 5.1 headsets with multiple speakers in each earcup.

I've had the original Psyko 5.1 which were interesting with the sound tubes but amp or something kept breaking.

So I'm thinking of the Logitech G930 or the Razer Tiamat 7.1's. I like having "true" surround and I have a dedicated soundcard. The logitech are dolby headphone so I'm not sure if the surround is quite as accurate as the Tiamats. They are also USB so my soundcard would be useless (which is ok I guess...). The Psyko's were the most accurate but had the worst music/voice quality and sound bleed thru the earcups. They were very comfortable though.

Any recommendations? This is mostly for games like Battlefield 3 so positional audio is important. I'd like a good mic on them too.

Yeah, I was looking out there and apparently the tiamat's aren't that great and the mic is total crap. The Astro A40 is interesting but too much.

Honestly you can find the G35s cheap, and they are fantastic quality. The sound still blows my mind and I always hear what I need to in game... In Day Z its helping me hear those sneaky players, in BF3 it makes love to my ears in a crescendo of bass and clear 7.1 surround sound goodness.

G930's are going for $99 at best buy and the G35;s are $129. Probably going to pick up the G930's... Still don't like basically wasting my soundcard though...

Discrete sound cards are becoming less and less necessary unless you're an audiophile. Most on-board sound or USB based headsets is more than the average user needs.

This. It's also a waste to get a sound card if you don't have either an amp or a built in amp.

That being said, if you're really an audiophile, and you have the room, a receiver is best.

eh..... hmmmm.... eh...... audiophile here..... seperate: source-dac-amp-speaker is best...... but at that point your looking at $100 to 500$ per part... and then.... well nvm this isn't the thread for this...
