Windows 8
I bought a new laptop that came with Windows 8 installed. Been using it for a few days and have yet to get the hang of. One of my classmates told me that it wasn't that bad and that he actually prefers over Windows 7 now. So I'm debating whether to dump it now or giving a few months to decide. Is there anyone here that can share their experience with Windows 8, did it eventually become easier to navigate? And do you prefer it over Windows 7?

Re: Windows 8
It's not that hard to navigate, but as I've said in the past it depends on what you use it for. Laptops are actually a lot easier to use than mouse and keyboard cause the touch pad uses the same gestures as a touch screen does. (swipe from the left to switch between apps, swipe from the right to bring up the charms).
The biggest thing that took me awhile to learn was the metro apps, some of them can be a bit confusing like the music app. However, they do get less confusing every time I use it. What you got to remember is that Win8 was built for touch devices, so it can be a bit off to use touch gestures with non touch format.

Re: Windows 8
I really like the new start menu, and by this I mean when at the metro screen right click and go to all apps (bottom right).
Bringing up the left and right charms isn't so bad with a mouse. I don't have to think about it any more and just throw my mouse to top left or right and slide down..... I don't use the metro apps so much, except the messenger one, that is really nice.
I also use multiple computers and the syncing of settings / applications is really handy. As well as the single logon.....-- Intentionally Left Blank --

Welcome to Classic Shell
Install that and pretend you never heard of windows 8 metro again.
I literally haven't seen the metro screen since the day I installed Windows 8.Last edited by Kanati; 03-28-13 at 03:59 PM.

Re: Windows 8
Well that's just a waste then haha. I like the apps and the Metro look(they've actually officially stopped calling it Metro, but I havn't cause I like the name), its nice and clean. If internet explorer didn't suck ass then I'd be using the app. Google needs to stop being a little bitch to Microsoft and work with them so I can have my Chrome app.
And Rush is right, you hardly ever think about it after awhile. I still have trouble with it with my dual monitors, but all in all its not bad. The added benefit of all the sweet stuff that the skydrive/onenote/calanders/people/mail/etc. does outweighs all the things people have trouble with.
Supposedly, there's a huge overhaul coming in the next couple months that adds a lot of new features and better skydrive/WP8 integration.

Re: Windows 8
So far WIndows 8 install has been a nightmare, tried installing 6-7 times with no luck, gets stuck on "getting devices ready". I have unplugged everything, after its starts to run the installation I even unplug the mouse and keyboard, still no luck. I'm going to reformat my hard drive, reinstall Windows 7 and then try the upgrade again. I have also removed ram and unplugged internal storage drives.
Edit: I'm an idiot, always read directions. Had to enable noexcute from bios, re-installing now.
