Best equipment for gaming?

I believe this is where it goes since I am asking around five questions. Sorry if it's not the place.

Ok so some of you know I am normally on and off the server (old name TheBenDude37) and now that I have time I am playing more. With a bad-ass paycheck I can finally afford to go out and do tournaments and also have a great computer/gear. Before I go slam $5,000 on the computer and equipment I wanted to know what y'all think about my computer set up. Most importantly I want to know if the set up can even work at high performance. Below is a list of items that will be put into the computer.

· Cooler Master - HAF X Ultimate Full-Tower Chassis

· Corsair - Hydro Series High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

· Asus - Workstation Motherboard - Intel C602 Chipset - Socket R LGA-2011

· Cooler Master - 1200W Silent Pro Gold 1200W ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply

· Asus - GeForce GTX 680 Graphic Card - 1 GPUs - 1019 MHz Core - 2 GB GDDR5 SDRAM - PCI-Express 3.0 x16

· Corsair - XMS3 8-Pack 8GB CL9 DDR3 DIMM Desktop Memory Kit

· Axiom - 300 GB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

· LG - 48x Write/24x Rewrite/48x Read CD - 16x Write DVD Internal Blu-ray Writer Drive

· Intel - Core™ i7-3770K Processor

Am I missing anything? I believe I will run it under windows 7.. Also my headset will be Astro A40 simply because they take a 7.1 and is wired... I am looking to use this computer and gear for home and when I travel to do tournaments. Also anybody can help with finding tournaments? I know Atlanta has a "LANFest" but I think it is mainly for fun(which I don't have a problem for starting out in tournaments)

Socket 2011 motherboard will not work with the 3770k. You need to look for a socket 1155, preferably something with an Intel Z77 chipset for that motherboard.

OR... you could look into getting a socket 2011 CPU, such as the i7-3930k, it is almost twice the price of the 3770k.

If you are running only a single GTX 680, then there is no need for a 1200w PSU. Trust me... I am running two GTX Titans on 1000w, and it runs just fine. I will likely be upgrading to a 1200w Corsair this year, but just to replace my aging PSU... not because I require MORE power.

You may also want to consider the GTX 770 or 780 instead of the 680 unless the 680 is at a remarkable price. With the release of the 770, there isn't much reason to buy a 680 anymore.

So get the 770 or 780 and also the i7-3930k? Plus if I go with the 770 or 780 is it possible to put two of them in the full tower? I got a hell of a lot of space to put almost anything in there.

Agree with Heavy here. 770 is the sweet spot, I'm upgrading my 680 to 780 via EVGA's step up program. If the 770 was available at the time I would have got that instead of the 680. Also the 1155 mobo's are the way to go at the moment.

If you have the money to burn on a 1200w psu, why not? It will future proof if you ever plan on going with a multi graphics card config. Otherwise he's right, an 700-850W psu is all you need (even that is overkill). Just make sure the PSU is a good quality reputable brand.

The power consumption of graphics cards is going down rather than up. 700-850W should be able to run almost any current gen graphics card in 2-way SLl, no problem. If you want to go SLI, I'd wager dual 760's would perform well at the $500 price point.

I can't recommend the i7-3930k. Overpriced for what you get in performance. You'd be better off going i7-3730k (Ivy Bridge) or a new i7-4770k (Haswell) processor with a Z77 (Ivy Bridge) or Z87 (Haswell) based motherboard. Although at this point... all the current platforms (Socket 1155, 1150 & 2011) are almost at a dead end. Ivy Bridge E will be on Socket 2011, but Haswell E is going to be a new platform due to them going from DDR3 to DDR4 memory. Haswell will be the only chip to use Socket 1050 because the next gen Intel chip Broadwell will be a BGA (soldered on to the board) part only.
