    Ahh, ok.

    EDIT:
That cable that Scion posted is cheaper at monoprice.

Neither of the links, I or Guyver Provided actually Show USB to hdmi. But Shop around, 50$+ seems WAY to high. I'd pay 25$ max.

Everyone wants to sell you MHL-HDMI,
You gotta dig for these: Vivid AV™ USB to HDMI Adapter with Audio - Computer Cable Store™

    Digital Audio too:

Are you planning on using those Pioneer speakers?

The reason I ask is because that amp is 4ohms and those speakers are 6ohms.

SP-BS21-LR - Bookshelf Loudspeakers. | Pioneer Electronics USA

Dayton Audio APA150 150W Power Amplifier

Specs for both of your items.

The speakers are 6ohms and the amp runs in 4ohms or 8ohms (mono).

It's been awhile since I messed with this, so I don't know for sure.

The downside is, if you try to use them and it damages either or both, your warranty might be voided. Wait for Knuckle or Kibner to post, and see what they say. I usually just get everything in the same impedance to be on the safe side.

Call or email them before you buy that amp. You need to make sure it's appropriate for those speakers. Tell them what speakers you have, and ask if the amp you like will work with them, or if you need something else. They will have something that fits.

Also, you mentioned that you already have some receiver... but that it won't work. That seems not quite right to me. You don't need an HDMI link. That would work (if your computer has HDMI), but it's overkill. This is very basic audio. I don't know of any desktop computer or laptop that doesn't have a 3.5mm analog stereo line out. It will look like this:

    or like this:

How to hook up speakers to my computer?-audiojack2-jpeg

or something similar. The vast majority of computers I see these days have the line out coded with a pale-green colour.

To attach it to most home amps or receivers, you'll need a cable like this:

    3.5mm Slim-Plug Male to 2 x RCA Male 10 ft. 240-066

    Cheers,

    AetheLove

Re: How to hook up speakers to my computer?

He is safe to hook up the 6 ohm speakers. Just DO NOT bridge the amp as the bridged ohm load would be 3 ohms... and would likely blow your amplifier.

You are always safer having a higher ohm load than what the amplifier is rated for, but you will not get as much power out of the amp when running a 6 ohm load as it is designed for 75w @ 4 ohm and 150w bridged @ 8 ohm. You will probably end up with that amp pushing ~50w/channel at 6 ohm.

I agree he'd probably be fine. I also think that smaller (cheaper) amp I posted first is likely to work.

But I don't understand why this is hard. Any competent shop will be able to tell you if an amp is appropriate, and suggest something if it's not. I've had good experience with that site I linked too, but there are lots of places who sell this stuff at competitive prices.

Seriously: call or email. Say "I have [speaker model]. I want [amp you like]. Will that work ok?"
