Never skimp on the case. It's the one thing that is likely to last through many builds and it defines the limits of future upgrades.

What's wrong with those Cooler Master or Silverstone cases? You DO NOT buy a case, based solely on looks.

Haha, I'm considering a case upgrade myself.
Moving-target, think of it this way. If you have an upgrade in the future, is the case upgrade friendly? Is it too cramped inside to work? Is there adequate space for cable management? (air flow is key). The cases I'm looking at are around 100 dollars but you can find easy to work with cases for cheaper. Gumby is right. In terms of not skimping on components, aside from the power supply, make sure you have a decent case that can last for multiple upgrades down the road.
