Re: windows 8 vs 7
It's really not that difficult, I've been using it since the Win8 beta and I've never had an issue with getting around it with my mouse and keyboard. Is there new stuff to get used to? Yea, as it is with all new OS's. But I've not seen anything about it that is nearly as complicated or as difficult as people keep making it out to be.

That's personal preference then. I like the look, as I have with all the MS products they spawned it from. MS is getting bad press off of Win8 because people are constantly writing articles that obviously show that they never took the time to use the OS properly, and are just bashing just to bash. But tis a topic for another discussion.

Microsoft did itself no favors taking a UI that was generally well received (Windows 7) and replaced it with something that is about as completely foreign as possible. I understand they want a single interface across all devices, but I think that's a huge misstep on their parts as the market share of their phones and tablets is minuscule compared to the other big 2 ( Android & iOS ). This is just a prime example of letting the tail wag the dog, rather than making a sound business decision. Their last attempt at a drastic UI change (Office 2007) was equally reviled, and was replaced with something a little more familiar to people in the next release (Office 2010). If I had to wager... the next major revision of Windows OS will be a market correction that is badly needs.

Re: windows 8 vs 7
Yea is you want the 64bit.
Except there's a lot of people who do like the UI. It all started with Xbox, when they changed their UI to the tiles and the new stylish interface it caught on. People started praising MS for this interface cause it was simple and easy to use it became a thing to talk about how Xbox's interface was way better than the PS3. They took that same concept and made their phones, which again got praise for it's ease of use(unfortunately not much else, but it's still going strong). The biggest problem people have with it is that they have to relearn stuff, and that's what happens when a shift in needs begin. They want the social interaction that MS has integrated into their devices(better than anyone else), they want the mobile type of marketplace, apps, and games.

Except their enterprise customers. I know my company (20,000+ workstations/laptops) isn't even considering Windows 8, and the interface is the #1 reason why. We're holding out for the next major release (Not 8.1) and hoping they come to their senses. That's an awful lot of licenses being left on the table

Re: windows 8 vs 7
I really want to get my office onto Win 8. I've realized they only need the Metro UI and 5 tiles. IE, Outlook, Word, Excel, and a LoB program we have. With GPOs, no one would have access to anything else. Would make my life a TON easier. LOL
