Re: windows 8 vs 7
Nokia is really making my love my windows phone, all their tools are so nice. And yes drive shows speed limits, your speed, and all the necessaries. I'm hoping the acquisition is going to let MS and Nokia blend their services together, local scout with here maps would be nice.

For the record, I hate Google. I think they are too big for their own good, and while they used to have the motto of "do no evil", I think they are going to be the biggest enemy of net neutrality in the U.S., aside from ISPs (Verizon, AT&T, Brighthouse). I like my Android phone and my Android tablet, and I use GMail, and the Google Play application, mainly because that is what is already tied to my device. It doesn't suck, so I don't mind how it sounds when I listen to music and pod casts.
I haven't used foobar at all. My questioning it is more over why it makes a difference if you are listening to music over crappy computer speakers. It is probably a good application. I just don't know of any other benefits to make me take the time to use it if there is no real benefit, aside from customization, which I don't need.
And again, I get why people like it. But for me, personally, I have no need for customization of an audio player. Even some of the stuff Dex was mentioning with playlists, mixes, etc... I don't ever use that stuff much because my job doesn't allow me the freedom of listening to music for long durations since I am pretty much tied to conference calls all day long.
