I'm kind of surprised people like metro, just because when Win 8 first came out I messed around with a bit (on store computers) and it seemed kind of bleh unless you have a touchscreen. I'd buy a tablet with it, and hell have a WP8 phone and love it, but with a mouse? O_o.
(No idea how much it changed since release or near there.)

Metro doesn't change anything though so why is anyone surprised? We live in a tablet lifestyle now, and that's what Win8 is pushing towards.

Yeah, but I want a tablet OS on my tablet, and a desktop OS on my desktop, which Metro is not. I'm not getting rid of my desktop anytime soon, and I expect my desktop OS to be desktop-like. Sorry Microsoft, but you lose. It's fine if you want to include it for the people who want everything dumbed down so they have the same interface for everything (even though no one uses your shitty mobile devices, statistically speaking), but you sure as fuck shouldn't abandon the desktop that's been used in every version of Windows in the last almost 20 years.

And you get one. Just because you want a shitty list of unorgainzed crap in a menu, over half of which you don't use, doesn't mean everyone does. That's what file explorer is for, that's what the desktop icons are for, and that's what the task bar is for. It's also where the Metro interface comes in handy. You can pin your desktop OS stuff that you do use in your outdated start menu, and use it in literally the exact same fashion.
Oh and our shitty phones revolutionized the way social media is integrated into a OS and the concept of a glance and go phone OS which every mobile OS is now trying to use. Our hardware is some of the best made in the business, and they sold 10million phones in the last quarter. That number will continue to rise.

Metro-based apps behave differently, and I don't like that. I don't like that Microsoft makes huge sweeping assumptions about how people want to work and try to force it on everyone. I don't want my OS dumbed down to a bunch of ugly-ass multicolored tiles. I should have the ability NATIVELY to do what the fuck I want without having to install another product.

I get it Dre... you're a Windows fanboi. You're who Microsoft is selling to rather than the REST of the market. Defend it all you want, but flexibility is king. Forcing an interface on users that's alien to most is NOT a smart business model and ultimately will cost them.Last edited by WileECyte; 11-17-13 at 01:48 PM.

Erm WP8 is nowhere close to shitty. Also has some of the best maps I've ever had (though technically Nokia made those). Has mall directories, airport maps, forest services maps, etc. in the same program.

My main issue with 8 is that it's a pain to use power features.
Sent from my SGH-I337 using Tapatalkenf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

Re: windows 8 vs 7
Your arguments are cute and wrong. You're so focused on the look of the product that you couldn't give two shits about the use of it. You think the tiles are ugly, good for you, but that doesn't at all change the fact that you're looking at, and complaining about, stupid ass superficial shit that NO ONE else cares about. You are in a very small percentage of people who hate Win8 because of the look. Win8 is doing well despite how much you think people hate the lack of a start menu. Technology is moving forward, and this is where the people have chosen it to go not because MS is making assumptions. They like having apps, and they like having common UIs for all their systems. That's why when people own an Iwhatever they buy other Iwhatevers. If they use Android phones they buy android tablets. It's why TV's have apps and are using mobile looking UI's. It's what people are used to, and it's familiar to people. MS is catering to the majority of the population who have put this mindset at the forefront.
Even your arguments about windows phone are silly. You don't want that stuff on your phone, but most people do. That's one of the many reasons the phone is liked by people. You know another reason? Because what you call a dumbed down UI, is called easy. And you know why it's not selling 250 million? Cause people want 10000000 apps, and WP doesn't have that many. I've not met a single person who hated the WP OS, but the only reason they don't want one is the lack of apps. Which that too is being increased everyday.
