Re: SSD Time
So in terms of usage I should for one thats going to house my OS and essential programs then? I would probably only throw BF4 on there as far as games go. The rest dont have any issues running on a standard drive so I dont care to port them over.

Re: SSD Time
I bought two 512 GB toshiba q series something or others during their black friday sale on newegg. I got them for 250 apiece.
Newegg.com - Toshiba Q Series HDTS251XZSTA 512GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
I have always looked at price as my selling point. Fifty cents per gigabyte is where I drew the line. I don't think you'll find any below that which aren't on a rather hefty sale / refurb though. I just happened to see them on black friday.

Re: SSD Time
I will also add that I have the OS and applications on one... and BF4 and L4D2 on the other. I used to be like the LAST person loaded into a map on BF4. It's taken as long as 5 minutes before to load into a game. Now I too have loaded into a map with the countdown timer still running (only a couple seconds but still... what a difference)

Re: SSD Time
Great thread.......I've been looking around for a new drive too.
I have a 180Gb Corsair Force GT for my OS and games (both Origin and Steam), and I'm tired of making room. Other than the size, it's been FANTASTIC over the last ~2 years. I'm looking in the 250-500Gb range, and will use it as my OS drive and just use the Corsair for games. Until this thread, I was just going to go with another Corsair (as it has been absolutely flawless), but will definately now be checking out the Samsungs.
@ Enf........The only regret you may have is not going bigger. SSDs make everything faster.

Re: SSD Time
Well if I were to get one solely for the OS, wouldnt I just need a small one? If its strictly just the OS, youre talking 20GB MAX for space. Why would you need to reserve so much space? Or is this including other apps?
As of right now its looking to be a smaller SSD for the OS (concentrating more on speed) and then a large SSD for games and apps (concentrating on price per GB).

Re: SSD Time
If it's a recent Windows OS, I wouldn't do anything smaller than 60 GB. Patches, service packs and various items are going to want to load on the OS drive. As for price per gb and forward thinking, 120-180 would be the minimum I'd recommend.
Some of the 240-256 GB's are going on some nice sales during the holiday.

Ended up going with Amazon.com: Samsung Electronics 840 Pro Series 2.5-Inch 256 GB SATA 6GB/s Solid State Drive MZ-7PD256BW: Computers & Accessories
Thanks for the info all.
