There's no such thing as "i" with an LCD. They can take a 1080i input but it still outputs 1080p. LCD, DLP, and plasma do not "interlace". They will ALWAYS show the full amount of data in a single refresh.
So... 1080 anything will always beat out 720p unless you have a CRT sitting there... And even then 1080i still has significantly more data on screen. I always preferred 1080i over 720p when I had a rear projection crt.

aaaaand it doesn't matter. Any signal on a 1080p LCD is going to be converted to 1080p or scaled to whatever you tell it to scale to.
