Computer Issue
So here is a computer issue I've been having since I built my new machine in July, haven't been able to figure out why it does it so maybe someone else has seen it before.
Two things, occasionally when I move my mouse around my computer makes a low-volume, high-pitch whine. It stops as soon as my mouse stops moving. I've heard my PSU could be at fault, its a Corsair TX750M so nothing cheap which makes me wonder. The second thing is my computer gets jittery when just surfing the web using Chrome, it isn't as noticeable when just going to web pages and not doing much else but its VERY noticeable when say I have Windows Media Player playing a MKV file in the background or am listening to Pandora with the desktop app. Then all of a sudden it affects my sound, I start getting what seems like feedback but my mic isn't on of course. When the sound gets paused for a second my mouse also will stop moving for that time. Also my computer runs through a UPS if that matters, I've had it for years but got a new battery last year.
any ideas?Last edited by gehn; 03-13-14 at 10:35 AM.

Open case. Move mouse. Pinpoint sound source.
Jittery doing other things like gaming? Maybe have a performance monitor up while doing that. What's your audio source (onboard, sound card, software/USB like the g35)? Any recent driver updates that could be at fault assuming this is a recent problem?

If it is the sound card (and is one that goes in a slot and is thus easy to replace), I recommend HT Omega. Creative sucks. Asus is only soso. HT Omega is awesome. You also still might be able to find their Striker card on Amazon. Even though they don't make it anymore, the hardware is still great, and all of their products, no matter the age, get constant support for all OSes. Customer support is great, too (quick and with a person!).

This is my mobo, it lists the kind of audio chip it uses. Motherboards - MAXIMUS VI GENE
Sound issues occur when using my G35 headset too.

That page shows a driver update from the end of January and a more recent bios update (roughly 3 weeks ago).
What does event viewer say if anything for the times you've noticed this stuff happening?enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Re: Computer Issue
Sounds like you might have some general power issues. Could either be your PSU as you stated but I think more likely it could be your motherboard. I have seen similar things when powered USB ports get messed up they start to effect everything else. I would try plugging the mouse into a daughterboard if you have one and see if that helps.
Do you still have warranty on the items you purchased? I might start replacing while you still can.“One of the most difficult tasks men can perform, however much others may despise it, is the invention of good games.” ― C.G. Jung
