i need a new good free anti virus avast has goten to out of control with there ads especially now making a fake pop up warning to get you to install a tool bar

Microsoft Security Essentials stays out of your way and hasn't let me down when a potential threat has come by.

You may have something else going on, it's never done that to me. I moved from MSE to Avast.

There have been several legal threats against MS and their AV solution, so when MS recommends something else, they're under attack from companies who feel a monopoly is taking place.

Well, I don't know how I missed Microsoft no longer updating their databases. Good thing I already avoid shady sites and e-mails and such.

think i stoped using AVG cause it was missing threats cant remember

I bit the bullet and just bought BitDefender Total Security. You can find it on sale occasionally for ~20 bux.
