Thread: Just built a new PC

Hi All,

Been awhile since I've been gaming due to an old PC and finally got around to building a new one.. My old one was pretty rock solid for games about 5 years ago.. In this day and age this new PC should last me about 2 or 3 years tops ha. Anyhow, here are my specs below:

Motherboard : ASRock Z97 Extreme6 LGA 1150
Processor : Intel Core i7-4790K Processor (Haswell)
Watercooler : Thermaltake Water 3.0 Extreme
RAM : G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)
Graphics Card : Sapphire R9 290X (Pretty Nasty it's huge too)
Powersupply : Corsair HX750 Gold
Case : NZXT ca-ph410-g1 Phantom 410
Hard Drive : Crucial M4 (512GB) - 120GB Partitioned O/S and rest for games
(Secondary Storage is NAS)

I did a few days of research on the builds and what all to piece together. I am going to make it a crossfire (edited) configuration eventually but didn't want to spent the $$ on another graphics card just yet.. The build it pretty nasty and runs all games so far in ultra settings with 80+ FPS.. I didn't even O/C it yet..


BF4 runs like a champ
CS: GO - Great
ArcheAge - Flawless
Everquest: Landmark runs great
Wildstar: is pretty good also

I do have some questions about overclocking etc.. If anyone has the same motherboard send me a PM please!

Crossfire. Not SLI. Sorry. Had to be said.

Good machine. CPU might last you longer thatn 2-3 years. The GPU march goes on though of course.

Not me. I'm an old codger and didn't even get an SSD until they dropped to 50 cents per gigabyte.
