    New monitor time

My monitor is dying. So, it's time for a new one. I haven't kept up with monitors in ages, tbh.

    Necessity:
    -HDMI or DVI
    -under US$150

    Nice:
-Either a monitor I can angle up or that has good viewing angles. I like to stand while watching videos
-The more screen real estate the better with coding and such.
-Being able to pick it up/have it at my house soon. In the middle of online classes at the moment.

    Not picky on/don't care:
    -response times
    -anything beyond 60Hz
    -anything like G-sync

    Any recommendations?
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

I have a couple of the older LG IPS monitors (24") and for 60hz monitors they are awesome. These are no longer my main monitors as I got a ROG but if you are looking for a sub $150 monitor look at the LG's too.

    Re: New monitor time

So I'm using an ASUS PG279Q on my main gaming rig and an ASUS PG278Q on my secondary rig. I love these monitors. Yes they are expensive but they are beautiful. Dell makes a similar G-sync to the PG278Q which is significantly less expensive when on sale at dell.com just keep an eye on it if so inclined.

I guess my advise is that if you can afford G-Sync monitors from ASUS I have found the build quality to be unparalleled in my own personal experience. But the budget isn't for everyone.

I'm looking to get the new IPS 34 inch version ASUS just released.

I just recently bought a 49 in 4k 120 hz to use. I was having trouble gaming with it so i gave it to the wife to replace the bedroom tv. While i was hooking it up i noticed i was plugged into the 30hz hdmi slot.

The 49 seemed good at the time but it was to big. Great for movies but just fucking around on the computer it was to much. Now im looking for a 32. Anyway what i was going to ask was how do you like the 28 inch screen? Response time and everything good?

I was considering waiting for that one to come out before getting a new screen, but I already have a rog swift as my primary gaming monitor and wanted something with that much real-estate but something a little cheaper - my IPS panels all have pretty gnarly light bleed and I wanted to give one of the va panels a try so I ended up grabbing a 34" Dell ultrawide. In theory va panels are supposed to eliminate light bleed since the led's are off for the blackest of colors; these claims would be false, at least for my monitor. The light bleed isn't awful, but it's definitely still there in the corners and along the sides.

I had 2 x 27" ASUS IPS 1080p monitors, one on each side of my main gaming monitor for a while but having all that real estate split between two monitors at only 1080p meant I had to split my attention and I had to keep looking back and forth between them, which meant I ended up mostly favoring the one on the left and the other ended up just being more of a distraction rather than helping with productivity. They also weren't vesa mountable so they took up a lot of desk space which I didn't like.

I swapped out those 2 side panels for a single 34" 3440x1440p ultrawide and I love having all that real-estate centralized in the same monitor; plus I'm a sucker for the 21:9 form factor. Also, it's vesa mountable so I was able to put it on a swivel arm and free up some desk space. All things considered, I think the new ASUS gsync ultrawide will be superior than every other ultrawide in every possible way, but dat price though...

It made watching March Madness pretty great this year

How was it looking at text on that big 49" guy? Hard on the eyes? Several years back I had a 40" 1080p 60hz tv with a pretty slow response time as my primary monitor and it was really hard on the eyes and prompted me to go back to a regular monitor. I'm wondering now that TVs have better refresh rates and higher resolutions if they would be any better as monitors.
