    problem with vista

okay, I got my new laptop... tried out vista and didn't say "WOW" but it's kinda cool and I got a buncha crap that is kinda fun with the lappy so I wanted to try to get bf2 to work with this thing. I'm running into the same problems that other people are having and I think it's something to do with my wide screen. I've tried adding the stuff into the target field of the shortcut properties and running it in xp compatibility mode and run it as an admin... still after the EA splash screen it crashes to desktop. I have an Nvidia Geforce 8400m GS video card 2 GB of RAM and an intel core 2 duo processor if anyone has any ideas as to what I can try that'd be great... I've done everything that showed up when i searched the forums and keep seeing the same stuff when I google it.

    ps
I'm not totally opposed to formatting and installing xp OR trying to get an xp/vista dual boot going if possible but want to see if this'll work

    Re: problem with vista

I'm running it on Vista right now, and I had some problems when trying to force a widescreen resolution. I'd see if it loads with default settings first. Also, let's see... newest version of Graphics Card drivers always helps, and maybe try disabling UAC altogether, since apparently it causes problems.

Make sure your running in admin mode and try running in Windows XP SP2 compatability mode. Also you might want to try and turn your desktop refesh rate to 60hz since the BF2/2142 run ingame movies and they ae defaulted to 60hz.

Just some things to check up on.

When starting up bf2 - right click on the icon and go to 'run as administrator' - then you wont crash

Another thing you can do is right click ->properties-> compatibility -> set it to 'run this computer in compatibility mode for .... and go to xp service pack 2

    Re: problem with vista

yes compatibility but if you try it install xp on one of the newer vista computers. Xp doesn't have the drivers for the north bridge so you'd b turning your computer into a paper wight.

    Graphical error

hay there, had a demo of this game an thought that it poowned arse so i rushed right out and got a copy, came back, messed about installing and when i was finally able to play, to my horror at utmost disgused i was greated by this!

i have no idea wtf this is about! and i have tried everything that i can think of, the game runs smoother than a greased up ice skater on a greased up ice rink! i have no problem with the 180.xx driver, but i stepped back to 178.xx anyway, i have turned off dual core, went to biliniar and disabled anti-stropic and v-sync as well as tried turning all the graphics right down low and nothing seems to help. I am not using Rivatuna or any form of over clocking tool coz i dont need it and i have scoured the forums and not found anyone else with the same problem.

so, wtf is this about? the demo was fine but the retail suks bolls!!!!
