HELP!
So - heres the problem - About 1 week ago I upgraded from some kingston 1gig (2x512) up to 2 gigs. (I took out the 2 512's and put in two 1gig sticks of the exact same type of ram, just a bigger size.) 2 days ago my computer started randomley crashing, the occasional BSOD and my programs randomley crash. It is very annoying. I reinstalled windows (I was going to do this anyways) didnt fix the problem. So I plopped my 1 gig back in and everything is working fine. Whats the deal?
Oh ya- b4 reinstalling windows I ran a memory diagnostic test which reported an error - unfortunatley it just told me to contact my manufacterer :S (me) lol

Re: HELP!
Two things could've happened. You staticly fucked up your stick of ram or you pushed to hard when insertion and chipped a connection and it shorts out. Probably one or the two. I have done these upgrades quite a bit and I can tell you it's pretty much a one shot deal. Be carful and firm at the same time.

Re: HELP!

Re: HELP!
No idea but here's a question. How many ram slots do you have? Single out the one your having trouble with and just double up on the other slots. I have a fairly new mother board and I have 2 256's ha and one gig. Ain't had a problem really. Well I hope you getr figured out. Hey 1.5 gigs is better than two 512s. Get r dun

Re: HELP!
You might want to look for a BIOS update for your motherboard also. A lot of mobos ship with limited support for RAM (vendor, module size, density), but support is added for more through BIOS updates over time.
Also make sure you are using the default timings from the memory, not manually setting the latency, etc.
