Re: can you help
I know it sounds nubish, but dell surprisingly, has some pretty mean mid-range laptop systems that could do you some good. I myself am a custom pc-builder kinda guy, although it can be a little difficult with all the limited choices out there. Dont look to buy from alienware or falconNS unless you're purchasing a dream system because they often overcharge their low/mid range systems. Ibuypower.com offers decent priced desktop solutions if you decide to change your mind about laptops.
Good luck bro

I dont know that its possible to buy a decent gaming laptop for 1300
I could not find anything form Dell or anyone else in that range that I thought would be ok for gaming.
My wife spent about 2500 on hers and it totally rips it up at gaming.Sleep, eat, conquer, meditate, repeat.

You can get a halfway decent gaming laptop from Alienware for just under $1500, but that's as low end as I would buy.

Re: can you help
i would try and wait it out for when nvidia starts putting there go 8600 and 8700 cards in to laptops. And the truth is that if you really want a gaming laptop you almost have to go name brand ie. Alienware and Dell. I would recomend some dell gaming laptops (Not the XPS, too much money). and to run vista on a laptop i would go with no less than 1.5 gigs of ram.
