Video Card Question
OK I want to upgrade for a very small amount of money. hopefully less than 50$. I have a nvidia 6800 256 pci. I was thinking the best upgrade for a small amount of money way to pci two of these and get it off ebat for that price.
secondarily, do i have to pci the exact same card. can it be a turbo 6800 with my regular or can it be a 512 6800. i am thinking no but the first question is my main concern.
Also would a evga 6800 256 pci be the same an nvidias
I want to play bioshock and it looks great but I have to turn my graphics way down to play, so i watched it for a while and turned them down when I wanted to play.

Re: Video Card Question
In order to sli, you have to have to have two of the same exact cards. If you have a 6800 turbo that is made by who ever you have to get another 6800 turbo that is made by whoever. Now the question is, can your motherboard suport sli and does your power supply have another PCI-e power connection. Then beyond that its probably preaty hard to find an exact mathc for a card that old. Personally i would save up some more money and get one of the newer cards out instead of sling what you currently have, dual 6800 just wont cut it for many games that are out or comming out.

Re: Video Card Question
my mobo is fine. my card is my choking point everything else on my comp is good to go, i could use a little faster chip but it can handle it alos. and the problem is i want it now. i know i should just get a better card but i wont be able to afford it for a while. so for 50 i can get one to sli on ebay so i will just do that for now.
and thanks ed, i fixed that link

Re: Video Card Question
Well for 54.99 (after mail in rebate) you can get an xfx nvidia 8500 gt with 256. Now I know not everyone would recommend it, but for a budget of 50 bucks, why not. Also what specs are you running? upgrading a vid card may not help if it bottlenecks.

Re: Video Card Question
I have a hard time recommending anything for $50. If you can wait then save up some more and get a better card. If you absolutely want to do it now you should shop around a bit more. The 6800GS you have now outperforms the 8500GT.
