Thread: IDE HELP

ok so my harddrive is old school and still runs off of ide. my mobo only has one ide connector on it, and my dvd drive runs off ide also. so now my comp is only detecting my harddrive and isnt booting all the way through (i need to reinstall windows so i figure thats why its not booting all the way) how do i get it to detect my dvd drive or do i have to upgrade and go sata?

did you make ur hardrive master and your dvd slave drive then u can share the same cable dose ur mobo have raid?

ok ive never been able to find out how to make a slave, so how do i make it a slave? i dont know if it has raid (i would assume so)

all better, just needed the dvd drive to read so that i can boot from disc. thank you so much for the help (easy fix tho haha) WOOT NEW RIG UP AND RUNNING!!!!

so r u all fixed up now? if you need to boot up from dvd drive make sure the drive is selected as on of your systems boot option and you should have no problem, let me know if i can help you anymore, cya my friend

Just one note. Having your DVD on the same ribbon as your HD will slow the transfer rate.
One of these days you should see about getting a SATA HD so that you can get a better transfer rate, better transfer rate better gamin. Kills the lag.

meh, i like the old school stuff haha. i know i need to upgrade eventually but i just spent enough on my comp for now. BUT TY anyways guys and ty again zulg
