    A problem that recently started.

Ok my computer has started randomly rebooting lately. I have excluded heat, virus, and bios settings as the cause of the problem. Steam also likes to quit responding, so i cant walk away for a while when its downloading. Oh and one time after the reboot all my bookmarks in firefox were lost.

    Please Help.

Did you check your Devices/Hardware for any issues, driver malfunctions?

I remember having this problem awhile ago. For me it was spyware and adware that caused it.

Anything helpful in the event viewer?

btw when you say reboot you mean just a normal reboot as opposed to a BSOD right?

Let us know what that spyware search turns up, if the problem still persists afterwords try posting your log for a run of Hijack this. http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php

    Just a normal reboot.

And the only thing ad-aware found was a log file, which it likes to get rid of.

    Ill run hijack this.

If you send me a couple of the latest dump files in your C:\Windows\Minidump folder, I'll check and see what file it is crashing on. Sending you a PM.

Also it seems to be mainly rebooting shortly after startup. Steam may be just locking up because of an un related thing like the latest update is not working well or something.

Im not saying these may be the cause of the problem just general things ive never seen before...

Are you doing anything in particular when the restarts occur?
What happens if you just boot your computer and let it sit? Does it still reboot?

Is the reboot a crash or is your computer literally logging you off your user account and showing the windows logo etc?
