    Overclockin...

Here is my first pass at a decent overclock:

Up to 3.4GHz stable. I ran a stress test on it overnight and had no crashes. FSB frequency is 378MHz giving me a whopping 1512MHz FSB!!!

I had to increase my VCore voltage to 1.44 and my Memory voltage to 2.0. I also changed the ram speed to 1:1.20 and the PCI-E clock to 115MHz. I have a feeling I can push it much higher, but I dont think it will be necessary for the time being.

    Re: Overclockin...

The new ATI drivers FINALLY arrived...

That means Round 2 of the overclock. I uninstalled the old drivers and reinstalled the new. Upon restart, I jumped back into BIOS and pushed up my FSB and voltage a bit. VCore is at 1.46V and Memory is at 2.2V. Let's see what we have...

I brought her up to 3.6GHz with a 1600MHz FSB. I decided to give 3DMark06 another whirl. I opened up my handy-dandy AMD Overclocking tool and increased the Core clock and Mem clock on the video card...

I went ahead and ran 3DMark06, but I cannot publish my results because it says the drivers are not valid. Must be too new. I will re-run the test in a couple of days so I can provide the link, but here is a screenshot of my score.

I think this is as high as I want to go until I can do some further testing for stability. I have seen people take their E6850 chips beyond 4GHz, and I believe that with my setup this is definately a possibility.

Yep, the newest Catalyst drivers are not supported. They have only been out for one day, so I am sure they will be supported soon.

Last night I played through the Call of Duty 4 demo, some Unreal Tournament 3, Bio Shock, and the Crysis Beta. I went into BIOS to check the temps and the CPU temp was at 32 deg C. She is running clean and cool.

I have overclocked the video card quiet a bit, and it is running very stable. I have yet to have a single crash or even an artifact with my overclocking this far.

    Re: Overclockin...

So I have stepped it up a bit more. So far, I have been able to overclock my 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo E6850 from the stock 3.0GHz to 3.8GHz (27% overclock)!!!

I upped my bus speed from 333MHz to 424MHz, giving me an overall rated FSB of 1696MHz. I am currently running a BIOS voltage VCore at 1.50v, but under load, there is a vdroop that brings my overall voltage down to 1.46v. I had to do some tweeking to get it to run stable. I also increased the memory voltage to 2.25v.

Both BIOS and ABIT Guru utility have me running in safe temps. My CPU temp has been between 34-35 deg C at full load and 31-32 deg C at idle.

My ATI HD2900XT is an overclocker's dream come true. I have overclocked the GPU core from 743MHz to 840MHz and the memory from 828MHz to 900Mhz (1800HMz at DDR). Here is my 3DMark link and some screenshots:

I am going to clock it back to 3.6GHz for the time being. I dont think there are any games that require me to have such an insane overclock.

    Re: Overclockin...

Yea, it is a common practice once you find your top speed to back it off 2 or 3 mhz so that your not hurting it. And it helps to keep it stable.
I have my AMD X2 5600+ at 3442 from 2800. When I started getting the BSD and I backed it off.

    Hi,

http://www.left4deadforums.com/staff...uncements.html - READ IT. I don't want to be an asshole about this, but the rules apply to everyone, and you can't say you weren't warned. This means the next one is a temp ban.

Think before you post, dude. No-one wants to see regular members picking up needless bans, and it's so avoidable.
