Re: COMP PROBLEMS....NEED HELP!!!
I have fought with this before. It can be a serious bitch to isolate and resolve. If you google the vpu recovery error you will get more shit than you can shake a stick at to attempt to resolve this error, most of which has a fairly low rate of success for those attempting it.
Just to get it out of the way, my VPU recovery problem was entirely due to the power supply plug for the MotherBoard not being entirely seated. Everythign would be fine until the card pulled load and required high amounts of power, at that point it would VPU error, hang the system, or just shut the box down.
Seating the power plug completely corrected the problem.
Now,
What powersupply do you have?
What video card is it?
How long has this been happening?
Is it only in games?
Have to dusted?
Make sure everything is plugged in tightly.
Have you upgraded lately? Added more hardware? ANother harddrive?
The card could be defective if you just got it - exchange and see if that helps.
My money is on some power related issue, as that seems to be a theme and was what ultimately was causing my VPU recovery issues.

Re: COMP PROBLEMS....NEED HELP!!!
Usually with my ati card after the VPU graphics thing is reset it performs fine. That usually happens to me when i minimize too much or something.
