css help

I installed css and tf2 but for some reason my css locks up at the motd screen everything just just freezes and I have to task manager close it.
Tf2 though works perfectly fine so im clueless. I've tried reinstalling css, running it in a smaller window, low settings, no firewall, a lower version of direct x, checking the cache files. So if anyone knows anything id appreciate the help

evga 8600gts
2gb corsair ddr 800 xms

What os are you running?

humor me and try creating your own server, does the motd there freeze you?

The motd box is similar to a web browser, its trying to request a page, so it could be something like your firewall is blocking this http request.

yeah i run xp , fresh reformat too. ive tried creating my own.

And it still does it?

Lets start by process of elimination then:
Ok try running the command

motd d

then create and game, that should stop the motd from loading somethign though it will still display the window.

If it still happends well move on from there
