Errm, lesee... asus a8n32-sli deluxe mobo 2 gigs of ram 2x 7800 GTX's in SLI mode, sblaster x-fi.. you would think I wouldn't have any problems... and on the regular maps for the most part I do not... but on titans the fps just goes down, down, down.... as near as I can tell it's directly related to the amount of people on the titan, more then say... 9 people and that's when the fps goes down to hell

Re: bang for the buck on futuremark
this is the thread for "what you game on" http://www.texasteamplayers.com/index.php?topic=9919.0 which is also where we started adding the "dynamic compare" icons to our names. Run it, and add your link to your forum profile.
As for you lagging out on the titan with 2 7800GTX's is SLI.......you've got some bigger issues then. Go to nvidia.com and use the autoupdate feeature for your motherboard drivers and graphics drivers (it autodetects). Also, do you have all your windows updates?
I've barely got 5000 3dMarks, and my titan lag is purely network based. It's as smooth as it can be.
As for soysoldier's take on how much value a 3dMark score is in terms of gaming.......fair enough. It's not the end-all, be-all benchmark to determine whether or not you can play games....HOWEVER......it's the only benchmark that is truly dedicated to determining just that. It also allows for you to post up your specs in a nice, easy to read dynamic compare link, so when you have an issue, you don't have to open your case and tell me what you have.....I can just look at your dynamic compare link, and tell yout he problem...compare it to my own hardware.....determine where your bottleneck is (looking at the individual scores)......
Most other benchmarks are geared towards measuring one or two things. the ability to draw polygons, draw textures, resample images, decode files/encryption, unpackage compressed files.......single tasks focused on determining your CPU's ability, or your GPU's mathematical ability to do something.
A 3dMark means not only can your CPU work hard, but so can your GPU, both at the same time, for extended periods of time, doing complex texture, polygon, and decoding excercises. Get through it without crashing, and it's also a "stability" benchmark, and something I use to ensure the computer I just build is capable of playing games.
nothing more frustrating than building a box that loads windows in 12 seconds, but crashes the second you start you 4 year old copy of BF2.

I dunno what to tell you, should be plenty smooth with that rig. Do other games lag out like that?

Well, the has been turned off/on and does not seem to make a difference *shrugs* all the various updates have been applied, I've got the newest drivers/windowsupdates/etc, all the 3d settings are set to be application controlled not to the max or anything (though that may end up being the case depending on in game settings of the invididual game..) I now have 3d mark 2006 registered even and run, a link included in my profile if that will possibly help someone figure out what is for the most part a titan only fps drop it'd be quite nice.. *wry grin*

I was having serious performance issues with my PC after upgrading graphics cards. I went from a 7600GT to an 8800GT and I was getting choppy performance. No matter what my video settings were, I'd get the same performance in 2142. I fixed this by downloading Driver Cleaner from Guru3D and cleaning off all the nVidia video drivers, rebooting and then installing the latest Forceware drivers. That made all the difference in the world.
Driver Cleaner works for most video drivers and also handles the drivers for nVidia chipset motherboards as well... Worth a shot anyways.

comparing him to mine, he's got me beat on all graphics test (by about 20%), however I've got him beat on the CPU specific tests. Perhaps his CPU is slowing him down (bottlenecking his graphics power).....but his CPU scores aren't low enough to do that.
I'm guessing you've got some driver issues, brokenape. unistall everything, use the control panel to add/remove all nvidia graphics related stuff, and start with a fresh install of the drivers.
make sure you actually enable your SLI, as well, and have them linked together.

Re: bang for the buck on futuremark
and actually, your AMD3800 is old. Keep the 939 board, but pop in this guy.
http://www.directron.com/adafx57bnbox.html FX-57 $399 (little steep....perhaps).
maybe an FX-55 for less http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-Athlon-64-FX...QQcmdZViewItem
unlocked....so add some volts, and OC them up to 2.8 or 3.0Ghz.
