    Re: Vista

Creative drivers would be my guess. I had bad experiences with them when I first installed Vista 32... they got a little better and then I dumped my Creative card. A buddy of mine had fits with his X-Fi Fatal1ty and sound issues with both BF2 and 2142, and this was under XP... didn't get any better under Vista 64.

    try hardware and medium sound.

2142 might fare better, since it's "engine" is newer. Might.

Along with what BD said I used to have issues with my X-FI card running very hot which caused crackling & crashes. I eventually upgraded from the standard x-FI to the Fatality X-FI as well as a larger case (Antec 900) which provided better air flow and space around the card. I have it in for 6 months with no issues.

I already own 2142, just never played much, my old machine did not do well with it. I can test it for 'free'

    Re: Vista

(Last night after I posted it crashed again)

Spent some time today reading up on suggestions. Found multiple suggestions to disable CMSS-3D in the sound card properties, because of problems it caused with BF2 for others. This is no issue to me, I have a townhouse, and cannot blast the audio anyway. In addition, I wasted my hearing in the Marines.

I did that, set the audio to hardware and medium. The game does seem to be stable at this point. I haven't had any problems since doing this. I think we may be on to something here.

    Re: Vista

After several hours of playing, I am becoming convinced that the problem is solved.

The game ran stable as hell.... steady at 100FPS. Not one hitch whatsoever.

For those who may stumble on this, it appears that the issue has to do with BF2, Vista64, and the Sound Blaster 3D effects. Once I removed the 3D effects from the properties, all problems went away immediately.

    Hell yes.

    Left 4 "Dead" 2

On xbox 360 i think its probaly a dying game the only one i see playing is Pillz aka AssasinJb well anyway back to the topic well you always meet the same person u played before in the pass. Another reason is that only one dlc has been made sacrifice is coming soon other games like red dead redemption already have 3 new dlc coming soon so as i was saying this game is 'dead' in my opinion

I don't think it's dead. The guys on ur list just aren't playing it as much as before. School has resumed and kids and teens have homework to do on the weekends plus alot of people work on weekends since they cannot work during school week.

I cut down on playing left 4 dead to build up the hype for the upcoming DLC. I was getting a bit bored of playing it lately so a break was necessary.

^ This pretty much summerizes it.

While I'm sure that new games and DLC's play a role in this too, it isn't June anymore.
