New 8800GT, first time ever running 3DMark... reasonable results?

I've never run 3DMark in my life, believe it or not.

I just upgraded to an 8800GT. Other info is e6400, ASUS P5W DH mobo, and 4GB RAM, Windows XP 32-bit.

I downloaded 3DMark06 and ran it and got 9362. I'm in the 75th percentile, apparently. I'd think I would be a little bit higher.

Any comments? One thing I did notice was that the "CPU" tests ran VERY slowly, between 0-1 FPS. Is this normal? The graphics tests all looked great.

Looks about right. The CPU test is usually around 1 FPS. You have a lower end Core 2 and an 8800 GT 512. I would expect between 9 and 10 thousand with that processor; so youshould be about right. Although I would think you would get slightly better FPS on the Video tests putting you around 10000. I get better FPS ( hence my 10000+ 3dmarks) with my 8800 GTS 640 which does not perform as well as the 8800 GT. Which 8800 GT is that? They come in clocks ranging from 575 to like 675. If you have one of the slower clocked ones it would make sense. But really 9 or 10 is expected with that Proc and video card.

    It's a 600MHz EVGA.

Thats probably about right... Latest drivers etc? If you run it a few times it may vary by a few hundred points... but really, i would expect between 9 and 10, Clintok's new rig (8800 GT, E6850) clocked 1100 3dmarks and it has a faster clocked 8800 GT and a substantially faster proc.

Yeh, latest drivers. I also have dual screens so maybe that puts a small extra load on it.

I'm not worried about +/- 5%. Just wanted to make sure I was performing in the right ballpark.

    Thanks for the answers.

You have to keep in mind, if you have the NVIDIA driver settings to anything other than 'Let application decide' your scores are going to drop.

To put it in perspective, I messed with my resolution and quality settings as soon as I got into windows when I got this badboy. I did a couple more things and then Ran 3DMark. My score was 10% less than when I ran it as it should be run.

I believe my statements to be accurate. If anyone has clarification - issue it.

I just finished my build last night....I started out at around 9500 w/my 8800GT - once I clocked up my processor (from 2.1 to 3.4) I picked up almost 3000 3Dmarks.

It is normal to run super slow on the processor test.

link your score in your profile so we can compare Veovis

i got a core 2 duo e6600 2.4 with an 8800gt oc BFGTECH and im hitting 9815 on the 3dmark right now, and that is without overclocking processor or card or anything.

I also have vista home premium and 3 gigs ddr2 ram.

Does windows 32-bit even support 4gig of ram?

    Technically no.

But that aside, RAM quanitity seems to influence 3dmarks very little beyond the 1Gb or so needed to run it totally smoothly.

Does windows 32-bit even support 4gig of ram?
