    Wheel n Deal

So I traded the old 2600xt and a 480watt psu for a Mag Innovision 1600x1200 monitor.
Of course I did this trade with family(bro-inlaw) so it makes the deal even better.
The reason I did this trade was because the games look too badass at that resolution.
Now I have the 3870's in crossfire pushing out 1600x1200.

    Fuck Yea!
    UT3 looks way unreal.

is that a big old tuber?
And how large is it? I had a 17 inch monitor that pushed over 1600X1200, but it was still all tiny.

Either way your right, getting up into that 1600X1200 + range really starts to make your images nice and smooth.

Yeah, I was running in 1280x1024 and then my monitor broke. I sent it in, but in the meantime dug out an old 1600x1200 CRT of my roomates. My LCD has since arrived but I keep using the CRT because 1600x1200 kicks butt over 1280x1024! And it means I actually use both video cards now and get a performance boost.

I've got a 20" Samsung LCD (204B) that runs 1600x1200. Everything looks so sweet. I can run most of the source games at 1600x1200 and everything dialed up with no problem. BF2 runs great at 1600x1200 with everything dialed up, but 2142... no way. Min framerates are awful.

really? bf2 and 2142 should run simlarly - try turning down shadows and dynamic lights and see if that lets it run at 1600x1200

I get crap performance from 2142 with everything cranked compared to BF2 fully cranked. Right now I run 2142 at 1280x1024 with most everything on medium. I think I have dynamic lighting turned off.

That is odd because I can turn on everything all the way with my system (a notch below yours in terms of GPU and CPU) at 1280x1024. I have not tried it at 1600x1200 because I am a BF2 nut and never got into 2142.. but still, your system should beat mine hard at 1280x1024.

You've actually got a 3DMark06 score about 1000 points higher than mine. I probably need to do some tweaking somewhere to raise my performance.

If I am getting better marks than you, that is definitely the case, your 8800 GT should outperform my 8800 GTS 640 at 1280x1024 hands down, and the X2 6000+ is significantly faster than may X2 5600+.

Dont know what to say, as I have tweaked nothing. Do you have a bunch of crud running in the background? You seem pretty darn computer literate so I am sure you dont... Good luck man, that rig oughtta squeeze out 11000+
