    Son of a.... freakin' Gigabyte.

Ok, I really liked this motherboard (GA-K8N-SLI) cause it's been the first stable board I've had in ages, and it's worked well for me for at least two years. Bought SoySoldier's FX-60 so I wouldn't have to upgrade to an AM2 or Intel system for awhile. Realized this week, hey, I'm sitting on a really overclockable chip, let's go do something with it! You would think with all the glorious tweaking options the BIOS has, this would be a breeze!

Yeah. Good luck with that, Deus. Gigabyte seems to not believe in letting you overclock. Go ahead and try to change the FSB.... soon as the system hits BIOS, if it's anything other than stock it freaks out, reboots immediately and says "Skipping FSB Setting 233MHz" or whatever and it boots up with all of your OTHER changes EXCEPT the fucking FSB. So, my Ferrari engine is plucked into a fucking station wagon frame.

Fuck it, here's a funny picture:

    Goddamnit.

ah i seem to remember having similar problems with mine an attempting to overclock my amd 6000+. It's funny because they even offer the 'easy over-clocking' feature.

Yeah, and that worked just as well: that is to say, it didn't.

Fucking useless.... I really don't think it's worth buying another mobo just to tweak this shit. If I'm buying a new mobo, I might as well upgrade to an Intel system that works better with my 8800GTS (apparently) and move up to the NEW AND INTERESTING DDR2 TECHNOLOGY ZOMG.

For that matter, try FINDING a Socket 939 board that isn't a Korean backyard special.

Hmmm, Have you searched around on the net? It doesnt seem right that it would simply lco you out of OCing, maybe a setting somewhere you need to adjust? If i remember right they have a hidden bios page that allows for more adjustments, you have to hit one of the F keys to get to it.

ddr2 ftw, newegg has 4gb OCZ ddr2 ram for 98$.

Have you checked comp USA, they told me they're going out of business so everything is 50-70% off. they even had a phenom chip 2.2ghz for 150$.

Believe me, I searched the hell out of the Internet. There is no magical "stop being a pussy" feature in the BIOS. Not even behind their silly Ctrl-F1 key combo which shows a bunch of the stuff they hide in the BIOS. (Such as the SMART toggle, I was wondering where in the hell that feature was.) I found a few rare folks who said the F6 BIOS let them play with the FSB without complaints, but I also found people who said it didn't do a thing for 'em.

No money until April FTL. I'm getting married in less than 5 weeks.

The nearest CompUSA to me is far away enough that I'm not willing to drive and gamble that they have what I want. I've got TigerDirect and Fry's locally to me.

Re: Son of a.... freakin' Gigabyte.

Are you kidding me? That board has the nforce 4 chipset.. It will over clock pretty damn good

    Try this...

    FSB 280
    cpu multi x 10
    HTT multi x 3
Set your ram to run a divider .. if you have ddr400 its really 200mhz ram so try setting it to 150mhz. When you increase your FSB it will bring your ram back up to around 200mhz
    nb voltage 1.7

    That will give you 2.8ghz.

Your chip is already at 2.6 so dont expect a huge overclock.
also turn off everything you see in the bios that says spread spectrum and amd cool and quiet .. turn those off...
