Q6600 for $199

Hmm, how much of a difference would I see in GAMING going from E6400 to Q6600?

XP 32-bit
8800GT
4GB DDR2

Honestly I can play any game I want now so I'm not sure I'd really want to change anyway. More of a curiosity. It wouldn't be too expensive though since I could eBay my e6400 for a decent amount.

Ive got a Q6600 as well. Paid a bit more for it, cause I got it when it was new, but that's a great price. I LOVE THISE CORE 2!

The Q6600 will outperform that E6400 for sure. BUT, of all the games out right now, only one seemed to perform better with greater than 2 cores (UT 2004 oddly enough) according to Tom's charts. And the Q6600 and E6400 are pretty similar in terms of clock cycles. Also, the E6400 has a faster bus than the Q6600.

I would not upgrade, the Q6600 is better, but not by much when it comes to gaming. Wait until a few more generations of processors come out.

I would imagine that an 8800 GT, 4Gb, and an E6400 probably kicks ass at just about every game out there already.

Honestly I can play any game I want now so I'm not sure I'd really want to change anyway. More of a curiosity. It wouldn't be too expensive though since I could eBay my e6400 for a decent amount.

great price. however, i would only want the G0 stepping. maybe they made that price to move out their remaining B3's.

I dont understand when the time is right with some of yall.
Really its just to funny.
When the new high end stuff comes out we all say hell no I will wait until it comes down.
Then someone said in this thread I would wait for the new processors to come out.

Let me get this right.
Wait for the new products to come out. When the new ones come out they are $$$. So we wait for the price to come down but then the new ones will come out.

My advice to everyone in this forums is make up your own mind if you want to upgrade then upgrade and if you want to play that waiting game then go ahead.

There is new parts coming out all the time so if you "wait" you will always be waiting.

Point is with a price like this why not.

I'm not sure how on earth you managed to translate my question of "is it worth it to upgrade from E6400 to Q6600" into an assault on your character. I've seen you blow up in quite a few threads in the past few days for no apparent reason, so you're either making really poor jokes, or lashing out on the forums for some other reason.

With a price like this, why not? Because I'll see almost no gain from my E6400. Because I can already played every game I own maxed out. Because I don't throw money away, even for great deals. I buy what I need to. If I had a different CPU, sure it might be worth it. Yes, $200 is a phenomenal deal on a Q6600. No, I don't need it.

I could offer you a fucking great deal on a leg waxing kit. Does that mean now is automatically the right time to buy it for you, just because the price is right?
