    Internet Explorer 7?

I have recently been having an issue with IE7 and IE6. I can browse to about any website with no problem but when I login to TTP after a couple of pages it locks up. The only way to close it is with task manager. It creates a report and I send it but there is no info. about it from Microsoft.

I have all the latest updates from Microsoft but the problem continues and it is about to kill me not being able to sift through all the threads here.

    Any help would be great,
    trailhunter

P.S. I typed this from my work computer.

Are you locking up with IE6 or IE7?

Do you have any ad-blockers or toolbars installed?

That - and I seem to browse slower with IE6.

IE7 really works well for me, though the browsers really work differently, from what i understand.

What pages of TTP crash it?

    Re: Internet Explorer 7?

Both IE6 and IE7 crash! I have uninstalled 7 to see if 6 would do any better and it does the same exact thing. I reinstalled IE7 and it did not help.

I have not used firefox for a while since I like IE7 now.

I have turned off automatic ficshing and turned off the pop up blocker features of IE.

I can usually get logged in fine but it does not seem to be any one page. I just start browsing around and do the normal open new tab thing and it locks up. I have even tried to just do normal browsing without tab browsing and it locks up.

Can I uninstall all of the IE programs or back way the heck out and reload any of them?
Not sure that would help anyway.

    Re: Internet Explorer 7?

It's almost impossible to un-install IE completely as it is tightly integrated with the Explorer shell. Couple of questions:

1.) When it locks up do you get a partial page load (header only)?
2.) If you wait a few minutes does the browser start responding again?
3.) Does it always happen in a particular section of the site?
4.) Does it happen with any other sites?
5.) What's the physical and virtual memory usage of IE once it has hung (go to task manager and choose view->select columns->Virtual Memory Size) and then check the iexplorer process.

You might also run hijack this http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php and make sure you don't have any browser bugs installed

    Re: Internet Explorer 7?

    1) No sometimes the whole page will load and then it will hang.
    2) Sometimes it will respond but only briefly.
    3) I have not found a particular place it hangs, sorry.
    4) It has not hung on any other site so far that I am aware of. Credit card/bank/google/yahoo/ all seem to be fine.
    5) I will get back to you on this. I will look tonight.

Thanks I will check that link out when I get home.

I have ran avg spyware, avg antivirus, and spybot search and destroy to no resolution.
I also ran avg anti root kit.

    seriously dude,
    Firefox
You will not be disappointed. Better tabbed browsing, lots of add-ons available (my favs are FireFTP Firefox Showcase) plus a built in spell checker for all your forum posting needs. It does not hurt that it usually renders pages faster than either version of IE.

    Sleep, eat, conquer, meditate, repeat.

    Firefox is where its at.

Thunderbird is a great email client as well, both are free, and better than IE and Outlook.
