If there truly is something I would like to know because I am sure I can do some OCing myself to get it. If it is just planning for future games, then what about all the new components that come out before, or at the same time as, the future games. You will be behind the curve there. If it is for things other than gaming, that is cool. If it is just to brag about e-penile scores then I will just go back to gaming for that.
There are two types of gamer/teamplayer:
    Computer Enthusiast
    and
    Nubs.

To some of us this is our hobby at the moment. We have other hobbies as well like guns, paintball, fishing, sports and the list could go on and on.
Why do some fishermen buy badass gear and not some bullshit wal mart fishing pole?
People that play paintball some are real into it and buy the best guns or mods for their setup.
Why would someone install a aftermarket turbocharger for their subaru wrx sti?
See where I am going with this?

We like to push our pc's to the limit.
Yes you might be able to play your games at high but when we crank up our settings in the CCC/Ntune control panel the quality looks a hell of a lot better playing at 16xAF 16xAA.

    You figured me out.

Not trying to be an ass, or troll, I was just truly wondering if there were gains that I would notice in-game to boosting up what I already have. If it is just for fun, then that is totally coll, but not my cup o' tea. I will get out of Kinx's thread now, and let you guys help him build a kick ass rig.

Actually Civil, your Core 2 CPU would overclock nicely probably. You would see faster load times, startups, etc. But any of the games you play are already cranked up as far as they go I assume. So you probably would not see a huge benefit in say BF2, or TF2, etc. That is almost all GPU at your level. I played BF2 on an AMD 3500+, an FX-60, and a 5600+ and it looked about the same because I had a fat 8800 GTS video card. The load times and general behavior of the machine overall improved with processor, but nor gameplay in those games. Crysis and Oblivion benefitted from faster CPU though.

Its all about performance. You pay 1400, you can make it run like a 2500$ machine....It's also a sense of accomplishment. Overclocking used to be over rated to me, but once i started doing it, i saw a drastic difference in performance. Spots in 3dmark id get 60fps on, i now get 105 on after oc'ing. I can max out my nvidia settings while maxing my in game settings to get the best online gaming experience possible..without ever dropping below 80fps, its also cool to see yourself get 300fps in CS, (even tho the human eye cant even see 300fps)... OC'ing is not for everyone, but for the average PC Enthusiast, like myself and all the other geeks here, the overclocking process just as fun as anything else. Give it a shot.

Go for the easy overclock by following these methods: www.blazingpc.com

Thats right because everyone knows my style of balls to the walls rushing even if it means dying. If I can make a hole on the other teams rush with 3 kills then I have done my part.

youll see a significant boot time with the 10,000 rpm raptor. I've had mine for a while now and love it, its the 74gb.

Some of you might say that's not big enough, well I play several games download music etc etc, and still got 20gb open.

So I guess unless your a downloading freak the 74gb is good

Well all this comp is going to be for is gaming, im planning to expand into more games and i want them to be at the max. So raiding 2 74g raptors is what im going to do. Unless there is anything faster.
