I'd say that maybe it wasn't plugged in, but the fan on the card runs when it's in my computer.

Are you sure all the power plugs from your power supply are plugged into the motherboard? It sounds like a voltage issue... Usually you have a 24-pin cable from the PS to the motherboard, as well as a separate 4-pin square plug from the PS to the motherboard. (Not the ones you plug into HDs & DVD Drives).

Good point. Also, some Mobos have other power plugs directly on them. My Asus A8N SLi premium had a four pin power plug right on the mobo (yes thats right, two four pins, one of the a 12v plus the 24 pin ATX power).

I'm honestly not sure. I didn't put it together. Where would I look, how would I know?

Re: Vid card or MoBo issue

I actually had this problem when i got my new video card and CPU. It was the AMD 4800+ 64 X2 Brisbane @ 2.5GHz. The video card was a X1950PRO 512mb.

And like WileE said, it was the 24-pin cable that messed up. I didn't plug in that extra square 4-pin connector. Plugged it in and tadddaa. It worked.

Make sure the 20+4-pin is plugged into your motherboard. If your MB is just a 20-pin connector, the 24-pin coming from the PSU should split into two (hence 20+4-pin connector). It can either be a 20 pin plus the 4 pin, which both need to be plugged in. Plug in the 20-pin and then there should be a place on your motherboard for the 4-pin to go into. You can't really fuck this up b/c it only plugs in one way.

But if your MB is a 24-pin connector, don't split it and plug the whole thing in. And when i say "split it", I don't mean with a knife or anything. It slides apart.

Wow, after reading this... it kind of sounds confusing.

It's mind-bottling. I'll check my manual and see where everything is.

From the look of it right now, I'd say it was plugged in correctly. I'll shut down and readjust it just to make sure tho.

Thats your motherboard... It's a 24-pin, and I don't see any other places for power to plug into.

It's not that... My fans were moving too, but my screen wasn't coming on.

I plugged in that extra 4-pin into my MB and it started up perfectly.
