Building a Case
Latly I've found myself staring at my case wondering what I could do to improve it. Leave the cover on but make it cool. Take up less space on my desk.
After thinking and thinking I came up with something. What if i put my monitor (20in HP w2007) into the case and add all my fans i have laying around on to the case to keep it as cool. Well that wouldnt work my monitor is 4 inchs wider than my case. So I came up with another idea, build a case out of plexi-glass throw the monitor and computer into that. So Im building a 26in wide- 16in tall- 10 deep case.
On the front :monitor, 2 dvd roms, touch screen power buttons, and digital thermometer, 6 usb ports with head phone and mic jack.. Have room to add upto 3 more dvd roms or throw in something else if i want.(not going to use anymore dvd roms just saying i have that much space that i need to use on the front. Will also be hinged to open when i push a button it will open by itself
On the left side: power supply, water cooler fans, and a hole for all the wires to come out of.
One the right side: nothing planed yet, going to see what i have room to do .
One the top: 12 fans to pull the heat out (i created a circuit board with a reg 4 pin power outlet that also plugs into my mobo fan port so i can control the speed of them).
One the bottom: 12- 1/2 in feet to help with all the holes ive made to allow air to be pulled in from the bottom to the top, 2 speakers (one at each end) not using the stock one on my HP w2007 going to throw in some old surround round speakers that put out 50 watts instead of the 10 watts currently.
So what do you think? I'll post pictures after i get it done. Right now I have everything cut, all the holes made, painted. Just trying a few different ways to hold the plexi-glass together so theres not alot of screws or rivets showing.

Re: Building a Case
I have modded a few cases in my day....
Some advice:
Bigger = more air to keep cool.
More fans is not always better. Air FLOW is super important; air in = air out. Position of air flow: make sure you air is moving across the parts that get hot: GPU(s), CPU, Chipset, RAM.
In any case have fun. Cases as art projects = super fun.

Re: Building a Case
Well. . . . . I got bored. I was building the case and although it looks good, the case has been done to death. I've changed my design ALOT and decided to let my leet drafting skills come into play. I dont have my program anymore (guess i lost the disk and lost the install after last format) so its all hand drawn. Yea im not the best drawler but after 30 pages (all useable for different parts i'll have to make) I think it looks good. This will put me back a pretty penny and will take a few months to make (due to cost of some parts ill be adding).
I looked all over the internet and saw all the different things people were doing and decided that i really like FFOW and i would make a case around that. I looked at a bunch of things involved in the game. I looked very detailed at objects including the computers in the game. Anyway I'll stop dragging it on
Im going to build a assult drone computer. I'm even going to go one step farther and make it really move and fire (3 barrels one will fire paint balls and the lower two will fire bb's or the plastic balls. This is were all the money will be going. The controler is detailed to look just like the games so im going to throw in a wireless camera the ones with the monitor that just runs on batteries.
Lucky for me i have some teachers i used to have that own their own studio were i can have them help me with some things that are a lil out of my league. I just got to find a place to put the thing. The reason i started this was to build a case to make my desk cleaner. lol thats working out.
So yea anything that you think i should add. I know it will be heavy, im guessing 30 LBs after the computer and tank come in together. (computer weighs about 16-18LBs)
Oh thinking about adding a wireless monitor to the whole thing. They cost alot and from what ive read would not help me for gaming so ill still plug the monitor in for gaming. How freaking cool would it be to drive that thing down the sidewalk shooting people with paint balls and playing css at the same time. lol.
