Creative Labs has surprised us again!!!

Who would have believed it, I sure didn't... but yes my faithfull disciples The spawn of darkness which is creative labs has graced us with their first updated driver in almost a year and a half... oh my children as of 03/14/08 there are drivers for both XP and Vista! Rejoice in the glorius goodness that we have been gifted with and head over to the www.creativelabs.com and download them now!

Downloading the sound blaster vista 64 driver now and will post how it goes when installed. I had such a nightmare before trying to get this card to work. Cross your fingers!!

Shit, i got it downloaded but just cant get the nerve to install it and the card. Keep remembering the headache i had when i tried it the first time. Someone else do it first!!

everything is solid....a bit of clarity added, they fine tuned a couple issues with higher bass settings too, now i can crank the bass and get rattled.. very very very nice w/ my dt770 headphones.

This got me thinking about soundcards in general. RIght now, I honestly can't remember if I use onboard sound or the Audigy2 Value card I got a while back in trade for something else.

What's the difference in performance/important features between this card (at $80)

The difference is some tools name on it. (ya, ya, sample rate blah blah blah)

Get the 80 dollar one, which is 50 dollars after rebate.

99.9% of the time I play through headphones anyway, so would sample rate be MORE or LESS important to my situation?

Honestly, I dont even understand what sample rate IS so I highly doubt I would get the 96KHz version and be like "Man, I really miss those other 94 KHz..."
