What is the best anti-virus and firewall for what we do?

AV: Avast best I could find for XP x64.

Firewall: Hardware firewall is a must! My current favorite is the Linksys RV042. The linksys business line is like Cisco light, it has a good price point for a firewall with business features (dual wan, up to 30 gateway to gateway vpns, port prioitization etc...) The dual wan on this works great by the way. If money is no object, I like sonicwall as well but a little overkill for home or home office in my opinion.

I'm no expert on this, but not that I'm aware of. My pings in game are typically in the 50's or thereabouts (whenever my ISP isn't crapping out). I use a Linksys WRT 54-G and I'm hard-wired to the router, which is connected to a cable modem. I'd suspect pings would be higher if I were connected wirelessly (I think encryption adds some delay on Wi-Fi also). Apparently any old NAT router (basically any router you can find) will add tremendous protection on the inbound side.
Other thoughts?

Hardware firewalls should actually be faster and cause less issues that software firewalls. However, it's usually more of a pain in the butt to configure and allow applications through. Software firewalls will prompt you and ask "do you want this application to be allowed out"? or something like that.

Wile, in case you didn't catch my humor, I don't actually employ hope as a strategy in my security posture.

I was going to post that part of my strategy to get rid of a Virus infection is to *Wish* it would go away.

This is an ongoing joke at my work and the humor may be lost in a forum.

Ever since i used k-on! anime mod i always have idea of turning zombies into pedobears and have those anime girls shoots at them.

I've seen someone used a mod to change all zombies into one same zombie: YouTube - ‪Left 4 Dead 2 Jimmy Gibbs‬&rlm;

Now this is a great idea if can replace Jimmy Gibbs skin with pedobear skin, which i found one is for Coach but... if anyone is skilled to port it?
